Hello everyone!
Just a very quick one this week. The Python 3.7 and updated libtcod version of URR… is compiling to exe using PyInstaller!! This is excellent news. The next step is to figure out what DLLs and the like need to be packaged with it.
(Oh, I’ve also fixed a whole bunch of bugs this week which I hadn’t found in the 2.7 version, including a crash bug under rare circumstances when generating the large picture in the menu, a bug for how flags were displayed in certain circumstances, a crash bug involving certain in-game consoles, and other stuff too.)
More soon! (I trust you will forgive the short post – I’m very busy on URR and on marking at the moment, so wanted to keep this brief.)
Excellent! I hope you don’t keep us waiting until next weekend if you get a working build before then. I’m so excited 🙂
Of course not! But I think this weekend is going to be the final update before release. I’ve got URR consistently compiling to exe, bug-free, and it appears to be working on Win 10 systems. I really need to test it on more systems, which is what I’m doing at the moment…
An extraordinary step! Thank you so much for all these weeks!
Thank you Silencess!
Seems like you’re on the home stretch! Am I the only one checking back every day to see if by any chance the game is dropped before Sunday haha?
You are not 😀
Almost there!
I’ve been checking multiple times a day.
No need (though I thank you for your commitment!). It’s going to be a few more days yet (a few teething troubles I’ll relate in this week’s blog entry) but expect release in the next week or so, barring any major issues.
I am! I don’t think it’ll be before this Sunday, but next week is looking genuinely likely for a release.
Oh man, I’m so excited. I’ve been following this project for years now!
Thanks Camden!
Sounds great! Please don’t forget those of us not on windows though. As long as you release the python source too, we can do the rest.
Thanks MB! I really want a Linux version, though I’m afraid I don’t plan to release the source. I am, however, going to look into Linux versions as soon as the Win 10 one is working…
Congrats dude!!
I’m super stoked for you!
At some point can I sign an NDA so I can work on adding blinking eyes to character portraits? 😛
Thanks Paul! And haha, yes, I remember this discussion…!
